During the CI Global Conference on Poverty, CARE will address and offset the meeting’s carbon footprint in the following ways:
CARE will offset the carbon emissions of participants’ travel to and from the CI Global Conference in Johannesburg by purchasing multiple use carbon credits from a “gold standard” producer. Additionally, by building other meetings into this event, our overall environmental impact and carbon footprint will be reduced during the year.
The facility selected for the conference has established recycling practices that will be implemented during the meeting.
Paper use will be minimized before and during the conference. For example, the conference schedule will be published online; at most, a pocket guide on recycled paper will be prepared for participants. Breakout session handouts will be kept to a minimum; hard copies will be two-sided and printed on recycled paper if needed.
